Milei’s running mate riles Argentina activists with event justifying 1970s dictatorship

On September 4th, The Financial Times published a commentary by Cefeidas Group’s Managing Director, Juan Cruz Díaz. In the article, he commented that Villarruel’s decision to hold the event seemed to be also ‘driven by personal conviction rather than just political strategy’ due to the limited appetite to reopen this dark period of history in Argentina. Additionally, he mentioned that it may help deepen Libertad Avanza’s image as the force opposing the ruling Peronist movement, which has embraced the human rights agenda over the past two decades.
