Argentina Court Poised to Rule on Landmark Cristina Kirchner Graft Case

On December 6, Bloomberg published a commentary by Cefeidas Group Managing Director, Juan Cruz Díaz. Díaz discussed Argentina’s Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who has been under investigation for alleged corruption in a case that risks upending the country’s already-volatile politics.

“Things are going to get nasty, as any outcome will likely result in deeper political polarization,” said Juan Cruz Diaz. “This case has been highly politicized from the start from both sides, and the results will be highly contested.”

Yesterday, a federal court found Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner guilty of fraudulent administration to the detriment of the State, sentencing her to six years in prison and banning her from holding public office for life.
