On November 8, Cefeidas Group Managing Directors and Co-Directors of the UdeSa Corporate Governance Program: Santiago Chaher and Juan Cruz Díaz moderated the panel “Revision of the OECD-G20 Corporate Governance Principles”, organized by the University of San Andres (UdeSA) and the Colombian Institute of Corporate Governance (ICGC). The Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV), Argentina’s principal stock market regulator, also participated in the event.
Participating panelists included: Caio de Oliveira (Latin America Corporate Governance Programme Manager, OECD), Sandra Perea (Delegate of the Financial Superintendence of Colombia), Francisco Prada (Corporate Governance Officer, IFC) and Matias Isasa (Director, CNV Argentina), who addressed major post-pandemic corporate governance challenges.
During his presentation, de Oliveira outlined the main issues under consideration by the OECD as it looks to revise its governance principles. He also provided insight into changes in the corporate governance landscape in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. On that front, Isasa and Perea both noted an increase in virtual shareholder meetings and the growing prevalence of green bonds in local capital markets. Isasa emphasized innovative changes being made by the CNV to its Corporate Governance Code as the commission works to keep corporate governance practices up-to-date with new demands and opportunities.
