On April 15, The Dialogue’s Latin America Advisor published a commentary by Cefeidas Group Manager Megan Cook. She commented on the Argentine government’s latest Covid-19-related measures and its political implications facing the midterm legislative elections:

“Opinions are divided both within the government and opposition about how to balance economic and political versus public health concerns, and measures implemented represent compromises between viewpoints. In any case, the Fernández administration cannot afford a collapse of the health system, and despite opposition criticism, public opinion polls show majority support for additional restrictions, which may be forthcoming if case numbers and ICU occupation rates continue to rise.”
