In an article written by Ignacio Olivera Doll and Paula Sambo, for Bloomberg on October 18, lead specialist in corporate governance Soledad Aroz from Cefeidas Group was quoted about the Argentine stock market.
Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos (BYMA) announced that the new Argentine stock exchange planned to introduce a new segment in 2018 modeled after Brazil’s Novo Mercado. This segment would raise corporate governance standards in order to protect investors and allows companies to voluntarily enter in.
When asked if some Argentine companies already aligned with higher corporate governance standards, Ms. Aroz responded:
“Some Argentine companies are listed in New York and London, where they already have to adhere to higher regulations.”
