Cefeidas Group’s Managing Director, Santiago Chaher moderated a panel discussion today on the role of independent directors, at an event organized by WomenCorporateDirectors‘ (WCD) Argentine Chapter.
The panel discussion provided attendees with insight into the relationship between an independent director, the board, an organization’s top-ranking executive and its senior management team.
Participating on the panel were: YPF President, Miguel Gutiérrez and one of the company’s independent directors, Inés Leopoldo; Grupo Supervielle President, Patricio Supervielle and independent director, Maria Gabriela Macagni (also Co-Chair of WCD’s Argentine Chapter); and National Securities Commission (CNV) President, Marcos Ayerra and CNV Director, Rocio Balestra.
Mr Chaher said, “as trustees of shareholder interests, independent directors play an important supervisory role. By objectively questioning the conduct of organizations, they help to ensure compliance with international corporate governance principles and standards”.
