Cefeidas Group’s Managing Director Juan Cruz Díaz introduced and moderated a Q&A panel on corporate governance, held at the Pink House (Casa Rosada).

The panel, “Corporate Governance in Capital Markets: Challenges for Regulators” was comprised of three speakers: Marcos Ayerra, President of the National Securities Commission (CNV); Leonardo Pereira, President of the Brazilian Securities Commission (CMV) and Elvira Rodriguez Herrer, President of the Spanish National Commission for the Stock Market (CNMV).

Ayerra highlighted that corporate governance is at the center of the CNV’s strategy for reform. He emphasized the firm belief that there is no economic development without capital markets and no capital markets without good corporate governance.

Pereira drew on his experience in capital markets to describe the challenges facing regulators. He also provided insights into the development of Brazil’s corporate governance code.

Rodriguez Herrer – as a significant proponent for environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) in Europe – considered the challenges to capital market and corporate governance reform in the Spanish context through the lens of the regulator.

The CNV’s Corporate Governance Task Force, which aims to facilitate collaboration between institutions and universities to improve corporate governance in Argentina, was also launched at the event. The University of San Andres (UdeSA) Law Department, where Cefeidas Group’s Managing Directors lead a corporate governance program, will be a collaborating institute.
