Cefeidas Group’s Managing Director moderates panel in support of gender equality

Panel Discussion at BCBA

Cefeidas Group’s Managing Director, Santiago Chaher moderated a panel discussion today at the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange (BCBA), in an event held as part of a global initiative to “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality”.

The BCBA, with Argentina’s National Security Commission (CNV), and in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and 42 other stock exchanges around the world, marked International Women’s Day by ringing the stock exchange’s opening bell.

The panel discussion focused on women on boards. Kathy Barclay, nominee Director of the IFC, Gabriela Macagni, Director of Grupo Supervielle and Andrea Grobocopatel, President and Founder of Fundacion FLOR participated in the panel. Two other sessions – “Diversity and inclusion in the financial market” and “Business practices for the promotion of gender equality” – were held after Argentina’s Vice-President, Gabriela Michetti spoke to participants.

“Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” is a partnership that highlights how the private sector can spur women’s participation in the economy. In addition to Buenos Aires, stock exchanges from Amman and Dhaka, to Nairobi, New York and Yangon participated in the initiative.

“Listed companies benefit from having women represented on boards. Greater diversity means there are more perspectives at the top. Stock exchanges have an important role in advocating for more equal gender representation,” said Mr Chaher.
